Job Title: High School Counselor.
School Type: K-12 Public Charter School.
Location: North Carolina.
Employment Type: Full-Time 7:30am-.4:00pm M-F, Occasional nights and weekend as needed (11 month position)
Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and student-centered High School Counselor to support the academic, social-emotional, and college/career development of students in grades 9-12. The ideal candidate is proactive, collaborative, and committed to helping all students achieve success in a diverse K-12 charter school environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individual and group counseling focused on academic planning, personal development, and postsecondary readiness.
- Develop and monitor student graduation plans aligned with North Carolina requirements.
- Assist students with college applications, scholarships, financial aid (FAFSA), and career exploration.
- Coordinate standardized testing (e.g., ACT, SAT, AP) and interpret results with students and families.
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and families to support student success and well-being.
- Maintain accurate student records and ensure compliance with state and federal guidelines.
- Deliver classroom guidance lessons on topics such as study skills, mental health, and career readiness.
- Identify and support at-risk students through intervention plans and referrals.
- Partner with community organizations and postsecondary institutions.
- Contribute to a positive school culture aligned with the mission of a K–12 charter school.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in School Counseling or related field.
- Valid North Carolina Professional Educator’s License in School Counseling (or eligibility to obtain).
- Experience working with high school students preferred.
- Strong knowledge of college admissions processes and career pathways.
- Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a small school environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a charter or K-12 school setting.
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus.
